The International Trade Commission (ITC) of the United States passed a vote

2023-12-08

Recently, the International Trade Commission (ITC) of the United States passed a vote. The agency has agreed to conduct a tariff investigation on imported truck tires from Thailand. This move means that this round of investigation into the "double anti" situation of Thai tires has entered the preliminary stage.

In October 2023, the United Steelworkers of America initiated a tax request to the US Department of Commerce. It claims that Thailand's dumping profit margin for imported US truck passenger car tires is as high as 47.8%.

In early November, ITC held a hearing to collect relevant materials from representatives of all parties. Pulin Chengshan North America Company is the only tire manufacturer to attend the defense. The company points out that the US tire industry and the Thai tire industry have different areas of competition. Local tire companies in the United States are concentrated in the original parts market, while Pulin Chengshan focuses on the replacement market.

It is expected that the US Department of Commerce will announce the preliminary tax rate review decision in March 2024. The International Trade Commission of the United States will review its final decision in July of the same year. The final ruling of this case may be released on August 1, 2024.
